Edible Gold
Gold is a non-toxic metal. The gold used in the
production of Gold Rush Vodka™ is in the form of gold leaf. Gold leaf is
pure gold pounded into sheets which are only a few atoms in thickness. As gold
doesn’t melt below 1000°C, it can't melt or be digested in the human body.
It's completely odorless, tasteless and has no perceptible texture. Gold has
been ingested for hundreds of years and poses no threat to health.
- In medieval Europe, alchemists mixed powdered gold
into drinks to "comfort sore limbs," one of the earliest
references to arthritis.
- Today it is widely used, in combination with
other compounds, in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
- In ancient Rome, gold salves were used for
the treatment of skin ulcers. Today, gold leaf plays an important role in
the treatment of chronic ulcers.
- As long as 4,500 years ago, the Egyptians
used gold in dentistry. Remarkable examples of the artistry of these early
orthodontists have been found, perfectly preserved, by archaeologists of
our own time. Today, American dentists use some 13 tons of gold each year
for crowns, bridges, inlays and dentures. The reason
- Gold is non-toxic, it can be shaped easily,
and it is tough -- it never wears, corrodes or tarnishes.
- Indian jimmies. For centuries, Indians have
used gold and silver leaf to decorate desserts on special occasions,
creating what Yamuna Devi described in The Art of Indian Vegetarian
Cooking as "no doubt the most opulent garnish in the world." It
is so popular in India that each year the nation converts 13 tons worth of
silver into edible leaf by compressing metal dust between sheets of paper.
- Gold in the form of extremely fine leaf (a
few atoms in thickness) has been added to certain liqueurs from Eastern
Europe. This gives the liquid a sparkle in the glass, as the fine bits of
gold catch the light as they float suspended.
- Pure gold leaf has a long tradition in
cuisine both in Europe and the Far East. Exotic dishes are given the
ultimate exotic presentation, wrapped in 99.9% pure gold leaf so
unbelievably thin, that the gold itself is edible.
- The Larousse Gastronomique cites its use
with staples like pate and roasted fowl back to the Middle Ages. But
suddenly it's appearing on menus at top restaurants across the nation, in
both sweet and savoury incarnations.
- Janni Kyritsis, chef at Sydney's MG Garage,
speaks very highly of the Gold Rose concocted by the bar staff at his Tow
Bar. "They mix it with vodka full of gold leaf. It's fantastic - when
you shake it, it's just like a snow globe."
- Gold has been said to be a good medicine for
eternal youth because it brings contaminants out of the human body.
- Today gold leaf is mixed into various foods;
sake, cakes, candies, tea and etc. .
This is an alcoholic beverage with distilled spirits,
but some will call it liquid viagra ;) !.
